The building of the Kutaisi Drama Theatre named after Lado Meskhishvili is one of the distinguished buildings in Kutaisi.Constraction of it startedin 1934 by Sh.Tavadze project and was implemented by the project worked up by the architect M. Shavishvili.it was finished in 1955 and on November 5 was opened with a ceremony. The Theatre holds 1100 audience.

The Theatre is built with the tradition and style characteristic to the Hellenic period. The main decorations of the building are pediments,capitals,eaves and colonnades that make the building monumental. The colonnades have Ionic style.
The building has the shape of the semicircle and is built with the Eklari stone. The elements of the Georgian church architecture are used also.
